2016  3RD QTR - Right Your Life invited local restaurants to participate in their first annual “Restaurants For Recovery” during the month of September which is “National Recovery Month”. It is a national day of observance held every September to educate Americans that substance use, treatment and mental health services can enable those individuals and families with a mental health and/or substance use disorder to live a healthy and rewarding life. This observance is growing fast due to widespread drug use and the Heroin Epidemic affecting many individuals, families and communities throughout our state and nation.  Restaurant support help us to keep the conversation going in a positive direction, build awareness in an effort to reduce the stigma and shame associated with substance use disease.

NEWS UPDATE

2016 1ST QTR - RIGHT YOUR LIFE JOINS THE MATAWAN - ABERDEEN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

2015 September
 - Growing up IS hard to do…The issues young people face while growing up have not changed in decades:  social awkwardness, popularity, “not fitting in”, etc.  The legal and illegal solutions they seek to “fit in” have not changed either: alcohol, marijuana, and in recent years Heroin has single handedly destroyed thousands of lives.  Like every thing else in our society, the Internet and social media have helped to exacerbate these issues and the numbers of young people at risk for enduring drug and alcohol addictions and suicide has risen dramatically nationwide, and particularly in New Jersey.

Two devastating and painfully obvious circumstances that hit home everyday are the corrosive effects of drug and alcohol abuse in our young people and the devastation that families experience as a result. Day after day each of these circumstances creep into the lives of American families everywhere leaving pain, anguish, compromised lives and death on our doorstep.

In an effort to change the lives of those locally affected, Right Your Life, Corp. a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization co-founded by 3 women will host its 1st Annual “WOOD U? WALK FOR RECOVERY.”  The event will raise money to help the WOOD U? Project, a Right Your Life initiative, raise the capital it needs to “Open The Doors” to its first program.  The WOOD U? Project, a “project workshop” for at risk youth and young adults working hard to remain in recovery.

The 2 mile Sidewalk Stroll around the town of Matawan, beginning and ending at Terhune Park (located at the corner of Main Street, South Street and Broad Street across from the Matawan Community Center. Parking will be available there. Justin and Alina a popular Justin and Alina are a brother and sister pop duo hailing from Central New Jersey. Their musical journey began with one simple purpose -- to leave their listeners feeling uplifted. They will be playing music from 10:30 to 2:00

Additionally, a light picnic lunch including sandwiches and hot dogs will be available following the walk. Don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs or picnic blankets. The highlight of the event will be a Cornhole Tournament with cash prizes awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners.  The cash prize amounts will depend on the number of participants.

Participants are encouraged to register online at www.RunSignUp.org (Search WOOD U WALK FOR RECOVERY) or on our website www.RightYourLife.org.  The first 50 pre-registrants will receive a T-shirt . Event Registration the 12th  will begin at 8:30 a.m.. The cost is $25 For the Walk & Picnic, Kids under 15 years are only 15.00. An additional $10.00 if you are participating in the Cornhole Contest.

“Drug and alcohol abuse destroys everything in the path of living a physical and emotional healthy life and too often it begins in our young people”, said Kathleen Loures, co-founder of Right Your Life. “Everyone knows Somebody suffering, it’s no secret and shouldn’t be.  The voice of those suffering from this disease needs to be heard and the local communities need to be involved for proper recovery” We want our message of hope to reach every child, parent & community within our reach.  The event will have have information about the WOOD U? Project and Families Against Addiction will also be joining us that day.
